EDP CNET is EDP Group’s Centre for New Energy Technologies, contributing applied R&D and innovation expertise in renewable integration, energy storage, flexibility and smart grids. EDP Produção is a major electricity producer and storage asset owner with extensive experience in conventional and renewable generation, demonstration projects and the operation of large-scale energy infrastructure.
Role :
EDP CNET and EDP Produção will jointly support PowerMAX’s technical, regulatory and replication activities. CNET will lead the technical characterisation of LDES demonstrators, assess EU market and regulatory frameworks, contribute to PowerVision and future-service analysis, and coordinate the LDES roadmap. Together with EDP Produção and Tekniker, it will collect Soto de Ribera data and assess the techno-economic feasibility of retrofitting decommissioned coal units with electrically heated molten-salt storage. EDP Produção will provide plant expertise, operational data and the Soto de Ribera replication case.

Jose Ramon Gonzalez Menendez
Engineering Design Senior Lead Expert/ New Technologies and Special Projects, EDPR – Senior Consultant supporting EDP CNET and EDP Produção. He will provide Senior Technical Advisory and Coordination Support across both organizations, with a focus on LDES integration, storage technologies, power-system requirements, technical data, stakeholder alignment and the EDP´s Soto de Ribera TPP molten-salt retrofit study.
