Description :
Statnett is the transmission system operator in the Norwegian energy system. Our mission is to ensure a reliable power supply by building, operating, preparedness and maintaining the transmission grid. Statnett is a state enterprise owned by the Norwegian state through the Ministry of Energy. We also aim to facilitate electrification and create value for our customers and society.
Role :
Statnett SF, Norway’s TSO, provides the transmission system perspective in PowerMAX, contributing to the assessment of Long Duration Energy Storage (LDES) for grid planning, system operation, resilience, and renewable integration. Statnett supports the validation of advanced modelling tools and participates in Norwegian replication studies exploring the role of hydrogen and other storage solutions in future low-carbon power systems

Dr Christos Dikaiakos
R&D Senior Advisor – Dr Christos Dikaiakos has more than 20 years of experience in power electronics and power system industry as an R&D electrical engineer. He has joined Statnett in 2023 as a Senior Research Advisor. He has been a Visiting Lecturer at City St. George University of London for 8 years. He holds a PhD in wholesale electricity market analysis while he has ca 50 research publications in relevant journals and conferences.
Vikaran Khanna
R&D Senior Advisor – Dr. Vikaran Khanna is a Senior Advisor at Statnett, Norway’s transmission system operator, working on the intersection of electrification of energy and digitalization of information. He leads innovation and R&D activities focused on digital substations, AI, and future system operation. He is a physicist by training and previously worked at NESO leading technology horizon scanning.
